NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing 2022 3-star Robert Jennings final 6 teams
Penn State Nittany Lions
“They have really been consistent and really enjoyed getting to know the staff.”
Penn State’s new regime, led by coach Micah Shrewsberry, will look to build on the success of former coach Pat Chambers. The Lions lost a lot this offseason but the coaching staff has done a respectable job trying to rebuild. Shrewsberry will have plenty of spots open next year, projected to be seven, even after receiving verbal commits from 2022 classmates Kanye Clary and Evan Mahaffey. PSU offered him on July 1.
Ole Miss Rebels/ Utah Utes
Ole Miss and Utah both offered a scholarship on July 11. Both teams, like Penn State, hover around the middle of the pack of their respective conferences. The Rebels, 51-42 under Kermit Davis, do have some youngster on the power forward depth chart — including Duke transfer Jaemyn Brakefield and incoming freshmen Eric van der Heijden.
Meanwhile, the Utes replaced Larry Krystowiak with former Utah State boss Craig Smith. Utah will need to add depth to its frontcourt next season.
Prediction: SMU appears to be the clear favorite with the other two Texas schools battling it out just in case that the Mustangs some how stumble. Penn State is the wild card just in case he wants to leave the south and Shrewsberry does have NBA experience. Jennings has taken official visits to SMU and TCU and he plans to make a trip to the SMU campus again as well as officially visit Texas Tech and Texas A&M. Itn’t would be a surprise if he visited State College and either Ole Miss and Utah.
