. . . Ducks . 8. team. 515

What’s interesting about Oregon is their frontcourt has so many different options in terms of potential pairings. They have a pair of returning centers of N’Faly Dante and Franck Kepnang, two former five-star recruits still with potential. Joining them are two freshmen in five-star forward Nathan Bittle and top-50 recruit Isaac Johnson, both of whom can stretch the floor and give the kind of spacing that the Ducks were lack a bit previously.

I view Eric Williams as a forward and he certainly plays like it, coming off a 10 ppg and 6.0 rpg season and proved to be an effective transfer pickup. The bouncy athlete plays his role well and even though the frontcourt has been boosted, there’s room for Williams in the rotation as a “glue guy”.

Williams’ issue is that a better version of him has arrived this offseason in Syracuse transfer Quincy Guerrier. The 6’7 forward had a breakout sophomore campaign, going for 13.7 ppg and a team-leading 8.4 rpg. He had several 20+ point efforts at the beginning of last season when he was a featured offensive player and is an outstanding rebounder and capable versatile defender.

Guerrier can play multiple positions and if neither Dante nor Kepnang emerges, don’t be surprised if we see lineups featuring him, Williams, and Bittle to maximize spacing and overall athleticism. The ability to have so many different lineups will be a benefit for Oregon and if all the new transfers mesh well, could challenge UCLA for the Pac-12 crown.
