Remy Martin – Kansas

Milestone: 2,000 career points

As far as milestones go, 2,000 career points is an impressive one. The six-foot guard brings with him the 1,754 points he scored at Arizona State to be placed as the Kansas Jayhawks’ starting point guard for the upcoming season. With game averages of 19.1 points in the last two seasons, Martin will not be resting once he hits his milestone.

As a junior Martin totaled 593 points over 31 games, a production he will be able to duplicate if not surpass. However, taking the most conservative of estimates – for a player on a new team playing alongside returning starters Ochai Agbaji, David McCormack, Jalen Wilson, and Christian Braun – Martin scores 500 points this season, his new career total would put him ahead of Vin Baker and Kerry Kittles. Once Martin scores 521, he will put himself into the top 200 in NCAA scoring dating back to the 1948-49 season.

With the team that head coach Bill Self has to work with, Martin will have several additional games during the NCAA tournament to add to his point total. Martin’s usage percentage will not border 33 percent this season and he will not be attempting almost 17 field goals a game, but he will continue to be the threat that led him to become a two-time member of the All-PAC Team.

Look for Remy Martin to be an important part of the Jayhawks’ journey of becoming a conference champion for the sixty-third time in school history.
