NCAA Basketball: 12 potential milestones to watch for 2021-22 season
Kameron Langley – North Carolina A&T
Milestone: 1,000 career assists
Kameron Langley has had a sensational four years and North Carolina A&T as he has dished out 757 assists over his 117 games. His career-best average was eight assists per game as a junior when he totaled 247 assists that season while attempting 222 field goals. With the 6’2 guard being 243 assists away from 1,000, it is going to take an almost career year.
It would be enough to simply state that getting to 938 assists and surpassing Gary Payton on the all-time list would be enough of a milestone, but Langley’s journey becomes all the more intriguing when Greg Anthony is at 950 and Steve Blake at 972. Lofty names among the collegiate basketball greats and Langley’s name is sure to be among them.
At just under 13 assists per game for the North Carolina A&T Aggies, much of the responsibility to distribute the ball will be placed upon Langley. His task will have another obstacle as six of the Aggies’ top-ten scorers are no longer suiting up for the blue and gold at Corbett Sports Center.
In order to provide much-needed reinforcements due to eight players transferring out, Coach Wil Jones recruited four from the transfer portal himself, most notably David Beatty who averaged double digits two seasons ago, and Demetric Horton who averaged nine points in his first NCAA Division I basketball coming from Community College.
Nine hundred assists would be impressive, passing Gary Payton and Greg Anthony even more so, for Langley to achieve those feats and get 1,000 career assists, Langley will have to look toward his teammates.
