NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing 10 teams in running for Chandler Jackson
Vanderbilt Commodores
Head coach Jerry Stackhouse may not have the wins but at least he’s developed some stars for the Commodores, including star point guard Scotty Pippen, Jr. Assuming he’s leaving after next season, there’s a chance that Jackson can be his replacement.
The thing here is that there are other new guards coming in, including four-star class of 2022 prospect Noah Shelby. With Tyrin Lawrence, Shane Dezonie, and Peyton Daniels also on board, it’s not a guarantee that Jackson will have a key spot in the rotation ahead of these guys. And considering that this team isn’t currently in the NCAA Tournament picture even with Pippen, it’s hard to see how they could beat out the others in this recruitment.
Virginia Tech Hokies
While the Hokies are going to need to replace the frontcourt duo of Keve Aluma and Justyn Mutts, they’ll also have to find another ball-handler in the 2022 class as well. Wofford grad transfer Storm Murphy is a one-year rental, joined at the point guard position with three-star freshman Sean Pedulla.
Virginia Tech landed three-star combo guard MJ Collins but could use an ACC-caliber talent in Jackson to come in and have an early impact. The team will be rebuilding a bit once Aluma departs but this prospect can have the opportunity to run the offense for Coach Mike Young and be the core piece to lead the team.
