1. Baylor (11-0)

Last season’s national championship did not start the season atop the rankings but these Bears find themselves there after a stellar start to the season. Unlike some of these other top teams, Baylor has avoided the nonconference loss and looks like a force to be reckoned with once more, even with plenty of new faces playing big roles on this team.

With eleven straight wins, the Bears have clearly taken care of business and some of those wins haven’t been easy. They beat VCU and Michigan State to win the Battle 4 Atlantis and blew out a talented Villanova squad a few weeks ago. They also recently won a true road game at Oregon, something that’ll help them prepare for the rigors of road play in the Big 12.

Baylor ranks in the top 5 in the nation on both offense and defense and this program looks powerful once again. Newcomers Kendall Brown and James Akinjo are playing huge roles for the success of this team. The offense has been really great in recent games, while that defense limited a solid Villanova squad to just 36 points two weeks ago. Once again, Baylor will be one of the heavy favorites in a talented Big 12 and it wouldn’t be surprising come March to see them as one of the heavy favorites to repeat their national title.
