Texas vs Texas Tech: 5 key storylines for Chris Beard’s return to Lubbock
Terrence Shannon’s back
Red Raiders’ starting guard Terrence Shannon has struggled his past five games, as he has only surpassed five points once. That one game was a twenty-point performance versus West Virginia, a performance that was reminiscent of his productivity to start the season.
The Red Raiders’ first five games of the season saw the 6’6″ guard average almost 17 points as he totaled at least 15 points in each game. Whether Shannon replicates the success of his first five games or struggles as he did his last five games, it will be better than sitting out with a back injury as he did Saturday versus Mississippi State,
Shannon has played in just half of the Red Raiders’ twenty games this season and has started in nine of those games. Shannon’s value rests in more than just being the second-leading scorer at 12 points per game. As a junior, the former No.81 recruit brings some experience to the Red Raiders despite leading the team in turnovers with over two per game.
Texas Tech has had their offense running on all cylinders as of late and the reintroduction of Terence Shannon – especially if healthy- will only add to the weapons that Coach Adams has to confront the nation’s top defense.
