Bracketology 2022: Memphis, Rutgers, Virginia among latest winners

Miami
We already touched on this a few slides ago, but the play of the ACC has been a disappointment this season. While this conference usually gets a flurry of teams into the Big Dance, this year’s seen teams like Louisville, Syracuse, and Virginia putting together very disappointing campaigns. One team that has been reasonably decent has been these Hurricanes, with Miami getting that big upset win at Duke just over a month ago.
This week was good for their resume, getting back on track after a terrible week prior. They took care of Georgia Tech on Wednesday night, with Sam Waardenburg (19 points, 8 rebounds) leading the way among five double-digit scorers.
Over the weekend they got a better win, heading to Wake Forest and delivering a 76-72 road win against the Demon Deacons. Kameron McGusty had 22 points and Isaiah Wong added 20 points in another important win for the Hurricanes’ resume, toppling one of the best teams in this year’s ACC.
The Hurricanes could very well find their way into the NCAA Tournament, and these road wins in conference play go a long way to securing that. No matter how poorly the league has played, the ACC is still going to get a few at-large bids and Miami is certainly trending towards grabbing one of those spots.
There are reasons for concern, especially on the defensive end, but if they can take care of business in the coming weeks against Louisville, Virginia, and Virginia Tech, then you could see the Hurricanes in position to make some noise in March.
We’ve finished our look at the five bracketology winners from the past week. Which teams do you think are going to stand out next week, and who will find their way on the right side of the bubble?
