Notre Dame Basketball: Keys to upsetting Texas Tech in Round of 32

2. Need Dane Goodwin to find himself again on offensive end

Other than teammate Blake Wesley, Dane Goodwin has been the most consistent player for Notre Dame throughout the whole season. As of late though especially down the stretch he just has not produced as much offensively for the Irish.

The senior guard down the stretch had a few rough shooting games which led Mike Brey to bring him off the bench in the ACC tournament. Goodwin had zero points in the first half and then rebounded in the second half with eleven points. Then in the First Four game Dane Goodwin had a tough first half but again played much better in the second half finishing with 12 points and two huge three-point field goals against Rutgers.

Against Alabama on Friday, Goodwin finished with only three points in the contest. The Irish with the emergence of Cormac Ryan as of late in the season, and now Nate Laszewski playing really well off the bench means that Goodwin’s minutes have dipped a bit, but will need him to be more productive against the Red Raiders.

Notre Dame is going to need more out of their talented guard against Texas Tech on Sunday. Goodwin is due for a true breakout game and would not be shocked to see that come Sunday in the big moment.
