Houston Cougars

With both Fabian White Jr. and Josh Carlton moving on, Houston will have to remake the frontcourt for next season. Five-star recruit Jarace Walker will be the projected starting forward, but the five-spot remains open. They’ll have plenty of options but Lofton makes sense from a regional perspective, being from Port Arthur, Texas.

Kelvin Sampson is one of the best head coaches and has worked and developed plenty of undersized big men. But none of them were as offensively skilled as Lofton, who would make Houston easily the No. 1 team in NCAA Basketball for next season. Had Baylor, the 2021 national champion had open spots at the center position, I would’ve included them. But the Cougars do, which makes them an ideal destination for the big.

Memphis Tigers

Through the ups and the downs, the Tigers and Coach Penny Hardaway will always be a potential destination for big names. And with Jalen Duren all but off to the NBA and Sam Onu entering the transfer portal, the team will need to add a center this offseason.

Despite some issues with development, Memphis has been good at the center position and Lofton would be a marquee name and focal point of the offense. And pairing him with forward Deandre Williams would be an elite two-way combo that would make some noise in the AAC next season.
