Cincinnati Bearcats

Cincinnati disappointed last season and the team’s lack of an elite scorer is one place to look. Hopkins won’t walk in and be that, but he could develop into it some day.

David DeJulius will be back next year for Wes Miller’s squad, which should be enough for the Bearcats to at least stay at their level, if not improve. But an infusion of talent for both the present and future is needed.

Cincinnati has lost a few players to the transfer portal, including Mike Saunders Jr. Hopkins has more potential than any of the players the Bearcats are losing, making his addition a worthwhile one.

West Virginia Mountaineers

There has been some smoke around Bob Huggins bringing in Hopkins. It wouldn’t hurt the Mountaineers if there’s fire, too.

After a down season, Huggins is hitting the transfer portal hard. West Virginia has already shown interest in Hopkins and is reportedly bringing in Sun Belt Player of the Year Norchad Omier for a visit, according to the Portal Report.

West Virginia has already secured a transfer commitment from former South Carolina guard Erik Stevenson, who averaged 11.6 points per game during his lone season with the Gamecocks. A transfer trio of Stevenson, Omier, and Hopkins could make the Mountaineers dangerous again, sooner than expected.
