NCAA Basketball: 10 teams that should target Kentucky transfer Bryce Hopkins
Marquette Golden Eagles
Marquette is one of the schools to have shown interest in Hopkins since he hit the transfer portal. Shaka Smart turned the Golden Eagles around immediately in his first year and it’s time to up the ante.
The biggest issue facing the Golden Eagles this offseason is the movement of another young forward, Justin Lewis. He recently took to Instagram Live and appeared to announce a return to school, only to quickly backtrack and claim he was still considering his options, primarily the NBA Draft. Marquette waits with bated breath.
If Lewis leaves, Smart will need someone to replace a good amount of his minutes. If not, Hopkins and Lewis could form a dangerous forward tandem in the Big East.
Boston College Eagles
Maybe if Hopkins doesn’t fly to one group of Eagles in Wisconsin, he could soar towards one in Massachusetts instead. Earl Grant will take whatever help he can get to retool Boston College.
The Eagles received a big boost earlier in the offseason when Makai Ashton-Langford announced he would return next season for his third year at the school after leading the team in scoring. The future of James Karnick remains uncertain, but Boston College has enough returning talent to make a jump next year.
Grant went 13-20 in his first season with the Eagles, but the team showed heart in its ACC Tournament run. Now they need the talent to match and Hopkins is motivated to leave it all out on the court.
