2021-22 stats: 19.2 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.9 apg

There are many mid-major stars in NCAA Basketball that eventually goes pro but few are 1st round NBA Draft picks. That’s where the junior Roddy is currently at, coming off of leading Colorado State to the NCAA Tournament as a six seed in the Big Dance. He led the team in scoring and rebounding and was the Mountain West Player of the Year.

Roddy is a 6’5 forward who may be a bit undersized but is highly athletic and skilled. And the offensive numbers show it, going for double figures in 28 of 31 games, including a career-high 36 against Creighton, which featured one of the better collective frontcourts in all of NCAA Basketball this year. He could score against any kind of size and is an underrated passer as well, showing that he can facilitate from the inside.

Although the Rams have lost a couple of rotational pieces this offseason, returning both Roddy and starting point guard Isaiah Stevens would likely have them as preseason top-25 teams for 2022-23, a rare feat for any mid-major team not named Gonzaga.

For many of the other teams on this list, they could try to find some way to replace the potential departing production. But there’s nothing Colorado State can do if Roddy stays in the NBA Draft, where he’s a current projected top-40 pick unless they strike gold in the transfer portal to pair with Stevens. His decision will have a major impact on the Mountain West in a few weeks.
