NCAA Basketball: Updated WTE 2022-23 power rankings after transfer deadline
15. Alabama Crimson Tide
2021-22 record: 19-14 (9-9 in SEC)
The Tide was capable of beating Gonzaga, Baylor, Houston, and Arkansas last season but also lost games to Missouri and Vanderbilt. There were reported chemistry issues on the roster so it’s probably a good thing that there was some turnover. Leading scorer Jaden Shackelford and freshman point guard JD Davison have entered the NBA Draft, while Keon Ellis, James Rojas, and Juwan Gary have moved on as well.
The good news is that veteran combo guard Jahvon Quinerly is coming back for another year, although the status of his health is a question after suffering a serious injury in the NCAA Tournament loss to Notre Dame. But he gives Alabama a proven guard, who’ll be paired with incoming five-star guard Jaden Bradley and Ohio transfer Mark Sears, coming off a 20 ppg scoring season.
In the frontcourt, former five-star center Charles Bediako is coming back, along with Noah Gurley. 6’8 combo forward and five-star freshman prospect Brandon Miller is coming in, along with star JUCO forward Nick Pringle. Former Texas Tech guard Nimari Burnett is coming off an injury as well and if he can give the Crimson Tide anything offensively, this team can be a contender in the SEC next season.
