NCAA Basketball: Updated WTE 2022-23 power rankings after transfer deadline
18. TCU Horned Frogs
2021-22 record: 21-13 (8-10 in Big 12)
It’s been a quiet offseason for the Frogs, having only three real storylines so far. Two of them were the recruitments of five-star guard Anthony Black and SMU transfer Kendric Davis. Ultimately, the program wasn’t able to get either. Instead, TCU didn’t get a newcomer but got back a guy in Mike Miles, who was supposedly off to the NBA Draft.
Miles led the team with 15.4 ppg and 3.8 apg this past season as a breakout sophomore and originally declared his intentions to leave and not return. But a couple of weeks later, the 6’1 playmaker said he was coming back for another year. That essentially meant that the entire core of the Horned Frogs’ roster is set to come back after making the NCAA Tournament.
Among the other key returning players are forward Emmanuel Miller and Damion Baugh, the team’s leading passer at 4.5 apg. Big man Eddie Lampkin averaged 6.6 ppg and 6.2 rpg as a freshman but really came on towards the ladder end of the season and will be a breakout candidate to watch.
TCU doesn’t need much from the transfer portal outside of maybe another guard shooter to replace Francisco Farabello. But this roster, thanks to Miles returning, is in very good shape and doesn’t need much from the portal.
