ACC Basketball: Biggest remaining roster needs for each team for 2022-23 season
NC State Wolfpack – Wing
Even if both Terquavion Smith and Dareon Seabron remain in the NBA Draft, the Wolfpack should be okay in the backcourt. They added Jarkel Joiner and Jack Clark from the transfer portal to pair with returning guard Casey Morsell. And after not having much of a frontcourt last season, Utah transfer center Dušan Mahorčič and Winthrop forward DJ Burns are a solid enough duo of newcomers.
Greg Gantt Jr. is the lone true “wing” on the roster but missed all of last season with an injury. The 6’8 Clark can play some wing as well but ideally, NC State adds someone else to provide cover at that position. Honestly, the team could still upgrade just about everywhere on the roster still but wing is most needed.
North Carolina Tar Heels – Power forward
This is a fairly easy one, considering that the Tar Heels return four starters for another season after Armando Bacot, Caleb Love, RJ Davis, and Leaky Black each decided to come back. The only one not coming back is sharpshooter Brady Manek.
So if UNC adds anyone this offseason, it would be at the four-spot and it looked like Baylor transfer Matthew Mayer would be the prime target. But with him now off to Illinois, the Heels will be back on the drawing board for someone else potentially.
