Syracuse Orange – Power forward

To some degree, the Orange could use a transfer at every position based on who they’re returning. They have a top-15 incoming recruiting class, led by four-star prospects, Judah Mintz and Justin Taylor. The only transfer addition to the roster is 6’11 center Mounir Hima from Duquesne to backup Jesse Edwards inside. Plus, Joe Girard will be the lead guard on the offense next season.

The one projected starter on the roster with the most questions is Benny Williams, a former top-50 prospect that didn’t play much as a freshman last season. So if there’s a position with a potential to upgrade to bring more security, it’s at the four-spot.

Virginia Cavaliers – Shooting guard

Like Florida State, the Cavaliers have mostly handled business this offseason already. They got great news as their two best players, Jayden Gardner and Kihei Clark, are back for the extra year, while also bringing back just about everyone else from last season too. And Virginia also bolstered its frontcourt by adding Ohio transfer Ben Vander Plas as well.

The only area where this team could reasonably improve at is shooting, a big area of weakness last season. Virginia does have a few incoming freshmen (Isaac McKneely, Ryan Dunn, Isaac Traudt) capable of filling that void but for a team that’s going to be in “win now” mode, looking for a proven D-I shooter wouldn’t be a bad thing.
