Atlantic 10 Basketball: 6 impact transfers to watch for 2022-23 season
By Stu Luddecke
Sincere Parker (Saint Louis Billikens)
Parker is sort of the wildcard in this group because of his lack of Division 1 Experience, but then again so was fellow Billiken Javonte Perkins when he first made the jump from JUCO to the Atlantic 10, and it’s safe to say he’s turned out okay (should be a consensus top 3 candidate for A10 Player of the Year this season).
Parker joins Saint Louis after being named a JUCO first-team All-American at Moberly Area Community College. As a freshman there, the 6’3” Guard averaged 21.9 points per game and, like the aforementioned Dae Dae Grant, filled it up from all over the floor (38.7% from 3, 78.3% from the line).
It’s also worth noting that he rebounded well for his position with 6.2 per game – a number sure to deteriorate against the more physical and athletic competition, but still, it goes to show that he’ll fit right in with Saint Louis hard-nosed and aggressive culture.
This is a loaded Billikens roster that Parker will be joining, so he won’t have quite the same opportunities to shine as some of the other players on this list, but he’ll still have plenty of chances to make an impact on the team and I expect him to make the most of them. Saint Louis was 48th nationally in scoring last season, and with Javonte Perkins coming back from an ACL and Parker debuting for the team, that number could skyrocket into nationally elite territory.
