With the 2022-23 NCAA basketball season upon us, one team that has many questions and storylines to follow comes from the Big Ten, Wisconsin Basketball.
Wisconsin Basketball had a season to remember last year, making it to the NCAA Tournament, finishing first in the Big Ten conference, and sharing the Big Ten regular season title with the Illinois Fighting Illini, with higher expectations coming into the 2022-23 NCAA Basketball season.
With some big names, like Johnny Davis, Brad Davison, and other big names leaving the Badgers this past off-season, many questions and storylines arise.
Seniors Stepping Up
This upcoming season will showcase two returning talents in the Badgers’ roster, guard Jahcobi Neath and forward Tyler Wahl. Tyler Wahl returning to the Badgers provides some height and experience, as he has the ability to attack the basketball in the painted area, he is not afraid to take the three-point shot and attacks the glass on both ends for the rebounds.
Neath will need to come into this season with a new energy, after this past season where he would only average two points per game. He will need to come into this season firing the open shots from either in the paint or behind the three-point arc, finding the open man when on offense, and making sure he keeps control of the ball.
These two will need to be the leaders on the court for Badgers and we will see how they progress throughout the new season.
Kelsmit Bringing new energy to Badgers
Max Klesmita , former Wofford Terriers guard, will be joining the Badgers after finishing last season with 14.9 points per game and earning third-team All-Southern Conference honors. He will be one of the many key pieces to replace Johnny Davis, who was the key player for the Wisconsin Badgers last season, before leaving to go to the NBA.
Klesmit has the ability to drive to the basket, shoot from long range, and has the ability to find the open man for the easy basket down low or from behind the three-point arc. Coach Greg Gard will be looking to Klesmit to carry this young team to a Big Ten title, the only question is, can Klesmit be that key player that the Badgers need to win?
Can Greg Gard and this young team win a Big Ten title?
With this new and young team coming in this year, head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers, Greg Gard, will be looking for ways to bring the national championship to Wisconsin. With new players like guard Ross Candelino, guard Kamari McGee and guard Luke Haertle coming in, the Badger will have depth when it comes to the guard position.
We will see if Gard’s quick pace offense for the Badgers will work as well, as they will be competing in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournaments, as we will get our first looks at the new Badgers’ offensive and see how well it works on defense as well.
With the 2022-23 season coming upon us, the Wisconsin Badgers will be on the radar of many people as a team that can make a run for a title. We will see what this new 2022-23 NCAA basketball season brings us.
