Oregon Basketball: 2022-23 season preview and outlook for Ducks
By Joey Loose
Key Reserves
Guard – Tyrone Williams (Junior)
Williams spent the last three seasons at Grayson College, a junior college in Texas, and becomes an interesting addition for the Ducks. He was the nation’s leading junior college scorer each of the last two seasons and is a walking bucket all over the court. We’ll see what role he plays as he adjusts to D1 basketball.
Guard – Keeshawn Barthelemy (Junior)
Someone who may be a starter, or at least get starter-type minutes, Barthelemey spent the last two seasons at Colorado and is very familiar with the Pac-12. He averaged 11.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists last season with the Buffaloes and brings a quick and effective scoring threat to a Ducks team reshuffling the deck.
Guard – Brennan Rigsby (Sophomore)
After winning a junior college title at Northwest Florida State, Rigsby brings a new scoring threat to the Ducks. He’s an above-average shooter who could find his way into the lineup pretty early, though he’ll still have to adjust to the D1 level.
Guard – Rivaldo Soares (Senior)
Soares begins his second season with the Ducks after making solid contributions as a junior last year, having transferred from the junior college level. A talented wing, Soares had a few highlight games last season and is hoping to take a step forward this season, though it remains to be seen how many minutes he’ll get this year.
Forward – Lok Wur (Junior)
Wur arrived in Eugene three seasons ago and played minimally the last two years after redshirting. He’s got talent and potential but has yet to put that consistency together to earn meaningful minutes to this point. Perhaps that big step forward comes this year; his rebounding numbers leave a lot to be desired.
Center – Nate Bittle (Sophomore)
A 7’0 center, Bittle is a 5-star prospect with great size and athleticism who had a decent first season at the college level. Now a sophomore, the Ducks are hoping he can play more consistent minutes moving forward, especially with limited depth in the frontcourt. If he keeps building his strength, he can be a force down low for this team.
