Indiana Hoosiers

The week started out rough for the Hoosiers, losing on the road at Maryland. It wasn’t the worst thing to happen to them since it’s a Quad 1 loss and the Terrapins are quietly in good shape compared to many of the other Big Ten teams in the at-large picture.

But the reason why Indiana is on this list is that they got the win over No. 1-ranked Purdue. It was at home in one of the best crowd environments of the season and it’s not only a Quad 1 victory but a true signature victory as well. That gives Indiana its third on the season and a 7-7 record combined against Quad 1 and 2 opponents.

The Hoosiers weren’t anywhere near the bubble but they’re in that 6/7 seed range that could have them slide up to a 4/5 or down to an 8/9, where they were after losing three straight games a month ago. They’ve now given themselves some breathing room and a top-20 NET ranking has them in a good position overall.

Indiana has games against Rutgers and Michigan coming up, along with a return matchup at Purdue in a couple of weeks. Not only are the Hoosiers still in play for a 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament but this win has them in the running for a top-4 seed in the NCAA Tournament if they can go on another long winning streak.
