Bracketology 2023: Texas, Indiana and Saint Mary’s among week’s biggest winners

As I mentioned before with Texas Tech, no one in the Big 12 is eliminated from at-large contention. But unlike the Red Raiders, the other nine teams have a resume that has them in the mix. That includes the Cowboys, who beat Ole Miss in the Big 12/SEC Challenge last week to avoid a bad loss.

This week, OK State first went on the road and got a big road victory against rival Oklahoma, 71-61. Kaleb Boone had 18 points in 17 minutes played, while Moussa Cisse had 18 points off the bench in just 21 minutes of play. They then came home to take on a TCU team that was missing star Mike Miles but still represents a Quad 1 opportunity.

The Cowboys had a huge lead in this game but gave it all up with minutes to go. But in the end, they pulled off the 79-73 upset win, thanks to 23 points from Boone, along with 19 from Caleb Asberry.

That’s two Quad 1 victories this week to give them four on the season and 5-5 in Big 12 play. If they remain at .500, they’re easily in the field. The only thing going against OK State is that Quad 3 setback against Southern Illinois but this week alone has been able to offset that. They do have an important home game against Texas Tech to get over. 500 in the Big 12 and a loss wouldn’t be great but not deadly.
