Bracketology 2023: Duke, Penn State, Marquette and Utah State among biggest winners
Alabama Crimson Tide
After losing on the road at Texas A&M to end the regular season, there was a small chance that if anything bad happened this past week, Alabama could’ve guaranteed not having the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Instead, the Crimson Tide has been able to take care of business. The first game was against Mississippi State in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament, a game that ended up being a clear blowout. The final score was 72-49 in one of the top defensive efforts of the season.
The second game was against Missouri. Although a case could be made that facing off against Tennessee would’ve had more value, the Tigers are still a Quad 1 neutral site battle. It was a close call but Alabama prevailed, 72-60, behind 20 points and 12 rebounds from Brandon Miller.
It’s another Quad 1 victory, giving the Tide 12 total. And the road win over Houston remains the single-best win this entire season, although Rutgers beating Purdue on the road probably has more meaning since it’s on the bubble. And with Kansas losing to Texas on Saturday, it very well could be Alabama that gets the No. 1 overall seed now, regardless of what happens against Texas A&M on Sunday.
