10. 15 Princeton over 7 Missouri

While their performance might be a bit overshadowed by what happened on Friday night, Princeton still proved that they belonged with that impressive showing against 2-seed Arizona. They set up a matchup of two Tigers that will have much intrigue. Princeton, strangely enough, is not in a unique position, as a 15-seed has made at least the Sweet Sixteen in each of the last two Tournaments, though these Tigers are different than Oral Roberts and Saint Peter’s and are making their own history.

The Tigers took advantage of poor guard play from the Wildcats to make it to the second round and got a great effort from start forward Tosan Evbuomwan, who had 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists in the upset win. Even though Princeton made just 16% of their 3-pointers, they found enough offense to win this game, using their defense to keep the Wildcats in check. It’s unlikely that they can win another game played in the 50’s, especially with the offense that Missouri possesses.

The key to victory is another strong defensive performance, though Princeton will have to take good care of the ball if they want to upset this Missouri team. These are teams are polar opposites in that Missouri is significantly better at forcing turnovers, while Princeton is great on the defensive boards. Strong 3-point shooting early could sink Princeton, and they might not beat a more offensive-minded team like this while shooting 16% from long-range. However, Evbuomwan and company face an easier opponent in the second round, though an opponent that’s gotten much better guard play this season.
