24. Keenan Evans

A 6’3 combo guard from Richardson, Texas, Evans was recruited to Texas Tech nearly a decade ago by Tubby Smith. He put up decent contributions in the Red Raiders’ backcourt and decided to say in Lubbock under new head coach Chris Beard in 2016. Evans was tremendous for his final two seasons and played a major role in the program’s success.

After putting up those minute numbers early, including as a full-time starter as sophomore, Evans really came into his own under Beard’s guidance. Evans averaged 15.4 points and 3.0 assists as a junior and actually scored 28 points in Beard’s first game as Texas Tech’s head coach. Senior year was even better, averaging 17.6 points per game, including a 38-point effort in a win over Texas. Evans helped lead the Red Raiders to their first Elite Eight in program history.

Evans was a decent scorer, racked up solid assist numbers, and grew into quite the weapon for the Red Raiders. For that senior season, he was named a Second Team All-American and First Team All-Big 12. He was extremely involved with all facets of Texas Tech’s success in that breakthrough season, though it’s a shame he wasn’t around for their national title game appearance the following year.
