Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines are a unique team in this situation because technically, they don’t need another class of 2024 point guard commit. Not only are they likely to have Dug McDaniel back for his junior season but the team already has a pair of commits in Durral Brooks and Christian Anderson Jr., both of whom are top-150 prospects.

From a talent perspective, Fland shouldn’t be concerned about not getting plenty of playing time. And the program is clearly willing to play two ball-handlers at the same time since they’ve been after other guards in the transfer portal this offseason. But Michigan needs to get back to its winning ways in order to be more viable for a recruitment like this and there’s a case that the program focuses elsewhere for the 2024 class unless they become a frontrunner here.

North Carolina Tar Heels

UNC had a 2024 commit in Elliott Cadeau but he reclassified to play next season. He’s a five-star combo guard that’ll be paired with veteran RJ Davis for next season. The team will also have five-star shooting guard commit Ian Jackson joining a year from now as well.

In order for this to work out smoothly, Davis would have to not take his final year of eligibility and move on after next season. The same could be said about Cadeau going pro after one year as well. Plus. like Michigan, North Carolina needs to bounce back after a bad past season in order to continue landing talent like this.
