24. Reed Timmer

Timmer is a 6’1 guard from New Berlin, Wisconsin who spent his four years of college ball at Drake. He was one of the top recruits for head coach Ray Giacoletti and would become a standout in the MVC. Timmer would have his best season with the Bulldogs as a senior after Niko Medved took over the program in 2017.

Timmer was already a full-time starter in the backcourt as a freshman and put up 11.5 points a game. The Bulldogs struggled mightily the next few seasons, but Timmer developed into one of the league’s best scorer and shooters, hitting 40% of his 3-pointers as a sophomore. As mentioned, senior year was an excellent ending, as he’d average 19.2 points per game and lead Drake to a 3rd place finish in the MVC and a trip to the CIT. He also had a 39-point outburst against Indiana State late in the year.

He actually ranked in the Top 3 in the MVC in points per game in each of his last three seasons, emerging as that best offensive player as a senior. Timmer finally earned First Team All-MVC honors in that final season and was consistently one of the league’s top free throw shooters for his entire career. Most importantly, he was a major part of the beginning of Drake’s recent turnaround at the tail end of his time with the Bulldogs.
