19. Tyreke Key

Key is a 6’3 wing from Celina, Tennessee who had a decent run across half a decade at Indiana State. He arrived in Terre Haute in 2017 and would develop into a major star for the Sycamores in the coming seasons. He started most of the games he played in those next four seasons before missing what would have been his fifth year due to shoulder surgery.

He made decent strides early in his career ad was already averaging 17.4 points a game as a sophomore, with a 45% clip in limited chances from outside the arc, including a 32-point, 6-steal win at Valparaiso. Key’s contributions were an important part of Indiana State’s attack over the next two seasons, as he put up similar offensive numbers and would increase his rebound output. He’d also lead the Sycamores to a pair of Top 4 finishes in the MVC in his junior and senior seasons before that injury in 2021.

For those final two seasons on the court with the Sycamores, Key was named First Team All-MVC, playing a significant role both with this program and in the league. He was one of the MVC’s top scorers and best shooters in each of those four seasons and was actually named the Most Improved Player for that sophomore year. After sitting out that season with injury, he opted to transfer, spending his final year of eligibility this past season at Tennessee.
