By Joey Loose
7. Chandler Hutchison
Hutchison is a 6’7 wing originally from Mission Viejo, California. He arrived on campus at Boise State back in 2014 and would develop into quite the player over the next four years with the Broncos. It’s a career that included a trip to the NCAA Tournament and really took off late, with Hutchison finding his way to the NBA after Boise.
During those first two seasons, Hutchison wasn’t a major part of Boise State’s offense, though he did get to play in the Big Dance as a freshman. As a junior, he averaged 17.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, hitting 37% of his 3-pointers and ending his season in the NIT in style, dropping 34 points at Utah. Senior year was even better, with Hutchison averaging 20.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists a game in a 23-win season for the Broncos. Among the highlights were a triple-double against Portland and a 44-point outburst in a win over San Diego State.
Hutchison emerged as a major player at Boise State, earning First Team All-MWC honors in those final two seasons. Not only did he lead the MWC in scoring as a senior, he also earned a place on the All-Defense team, with great rebound and steals numbers as well. Putting up great metrics and contributing to more than 80 wins in four seasons, Hutchison became a first round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
