NEC Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
3. Peter Kiss
Kiss’s college basketball career had already been a wild ride before he landed at Bryant back in 2020. This 6’5 guard from New York spent his freshman year at Quinnipiac and showed great potential before landing at Rutgers. However, he sat out originally as a transfer and missed nearly his entire junior season due to injury, and decided to leave the Scarlet Knights. His final two years came at Bryant and his potential showed through in the NEC.
Back on the court as a redshirt junior, Kiss averaged 16.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, becoming an instant success with the Bryant offense. He had a triple-double against Central Connecticut and helped lead the Bulldogs into the CBI. Senior year was far greater, with Kiss leading the Bulldogs on their first trip to the NCAA Tournament. Kiss had 34 points in the NEC Tournament final against Wagner and was explosive all year long, averaging 25.2 points per game on the year.
Kiss was First Team All-NEC in both seasons at Bryant and certainly became one of the NEC’s top offensive players in recent memory. After leading the league in steals as a junior, he’d lead the entire nation with his 680 points during his senior season, also winning Tournament MVP honors for an outstanding finishing stretch to his career. Kiss worked wonders at what was his third D1 college and truly helped get Bryant over the edge and into their first Big Dance.
