OVC Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
18. Terrell Miller Jr.
The first of many Murray State players on today’s list, Miller actually began his collegiate career at Southwest Mississippi back in 2014. This 6’8 forward from Jacksonville would become a valuable frontcourt weapon for head coach Matt McMahon for his final two seasons of eligibility with the Racers, beginning in 2016.
Impactful immediately, Miller averaged 16.0 points and 8.2 rebounds as a junior while hitting just under 40% of his long-range attempts. He had a career-high 30-point effort against UT Martin in late January, but his senior season was far more successful. Miller helped lead the Racers to a 26-win season, winning both the OVC regular season and tournament titles, while putting up the same kind of individual numbers. He had an 18-point, 18-rebound game in the OVC Tournament against Jacksonville before ending his career on a high note, with 27 points and 17 rebounds in their NCAA Tourney loss to West Virginia.
Miller was fantastic, earning First Team All-OVC honors for both seasons in the Racers’ program. He was one of the best rebounders in the league, shot the ball really well from all over the court, and did exactly what Murray State needed him to do in that impressive senior season. Miller was a great piece for the Racers, though we all know that some even greater Murray State legends are coming, including at least one of Miller’s teammates.
