Jamarion Sharp – 7’5 Center – Ole Miss Rebels

Former Western Kentucky Hilltoppers center Jamarion Sharp has already taken the crown for college basketball’s tallest player currently with his 7-foot-5 listing. Now, he looks to push the envelope in the SEC with head coach Chris Beard and the Ole Miss Rebels this upcoming season.

Sharp is a two-time Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year and a third-team All-Conference USA performer as he looks to make a splash in the high major ranks and raise his draft stock in the same breath.

He spent the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons at John A. Logan Community College in Illinois, sharpening his game before joining Western Kentucky in the Conference USA in 2021. He spent the past two seasons as a member of the Hilltoppers, showing off his ability to dominate the painted area.

He’s certainly got a knack for defending on the interior and doesn’t try to overdo things offensively around the rim. He put up 7.8 ppg, 7.6 rpg and 4.4 bpg on 67.9 percent shooting across 64 appearances, 60 starts, from 2021-23.

He recorded a career-high 10 blocks back on November 24, 2021, against Alabama A&M in a victory. In fact, he recorded the lone triple-double of his career in that one with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks. In his career, he has six double-doubles and hopes to elevate that number with his jump to the SEC ranks.

He led the conference and the entire NCAA in blocks (131) and finished sixth in the conference in rebounds (245) this past season as he returns to a power conference looking to provide support as a defensive anchor to a new-look Ole Miss squad.

The Rebels return just three players from last year’s rotation though two of them led the charge in scoring in Matthew Murrell and Jaemyn Brakefield. With a few wings back already, it certainly helps to have Sharp in the fold given what he can provide on both ends of the floor. Sharp will get all he can handle in practice in terms of competition as well, as Moussa Cisse joins the roster out of the portal for 2023-24.
