Patriot League Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
13. Chris Hass
A 6’5 wing from Pellston, Michigan, Hass had a fine collegiate career, spending that entire journey in the Patriot League at Bucknell. He arrived back in 2012 and wasn’t a factor as a freshman, though the Bison would advance to the NCAA Tournament. His final three seasons saw him play a much more significant role for the program, starting nearly that entire time.
On the court finally as a sophomore, he averaged 11.1 points per game, making 40% of his 3-pointers in the process. Bucknell would win regular season titles in the Patriot League in his last two seasons, with Hass averaging at least 16 points a game both years. Hass would put up 32 points against Holy Cross in the 2015 Patriot League Tournament, but he’d settle for a pair of trips to the NIT. He actually had a 40-point performance as a senior against Army as well.
Hass was named First Team All-Patriot for those last two seasons, finishing as one of the league’s top scorers and shooters. He was one of the best free throw shooters in the conference and led it in 3-pointers during his junior year. Yes, Bucknell fell just short of the Big Dance, but Hass was a major presence in the back half of his collegiate career and put the Bison in fantastic position.
