Patriot League Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
10. Cameron Ayers
A fantastic piece in the 2010s for Bucknell, Ayers had quite the ride with the Bison. He’s a 6’5 wing from Blue Bell, Pennsylvania who did great work in the Bison backcourt between 2010 and 2014. Due to the way this article series is written, we can only focus on Ayers’ final season of college ball, but his senior year was pretty successful.
He had by far his most productive college season, averaging 15.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in a solid season for the Bison. Ayers shot 41% from beyond the arc and 86% from the free throw line, with solid offensive numbers across the board. It’s a season that included a slew of 20-point performances including a career-high 25-point performance on the road against St. John’s.
Following that senior season, Ayers was named Patriot League Player of the Year. He developed into a very impactful backcourt presence for the Bison and was great especially late in his career. He actually had decent metrics on both sides of the ball and really stood out in that senior year. Ayers was fantastic for Bucknell and reached the Big Dance as a junior back in 2013.
