21. Isaac Mushila

A 6’5 wing from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mushila spent his high school years in Ohio before getting his collegiate career started at the junior college level. He’d spend a year apiece at Gillette College and Western Texas before joining Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 2021. He spent these last two seasons as an important part of Steve Lutz’s program

As a junior, Mushila averaged 13.2 points and 9.4 rebounds a game in a season that included several impressive performances. He also helped the Islanders to a surprise run through the Southland Tournament. In year two, he’d average a hair shy of a double-double on the year, putting up 14.5 points and 9.9 rebounds per night. He would help lead the Islanders to the NCAA Tournament for a second straight season, with a double-double in their First Four victory over Southeast Missouri State.

The Southland’s best rebounder during those two seasons, Mushila was First Team All-Southland as a senior after earning Second Team honors the year prior. He made two consecutive trips to the Big Dance, which is a lot more than most former junior college players achieve in their careers at the D1 level. He ranked among the national leaders in offensive rebounding and will look to continue this success next season at New Mexico in the Mountain West.
