NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 8 teams for 4-star PG Jase Richardson
Cincinnati Bearcats
After losing Mika Adams-Woods and Mike Saunders to the portal, Cincy will be relying on JUCO transfer DaVeon Thomas and top-100 freshman Jizzle James to run the offense next season. They’d both be around by the time Richarson joins and who knows how good those two will be as NCAA Basketball players. This prospect should be able to be in the rotation but compared to other options, his role here would be unknown.
Michigan State Spartans
As his father’s alma mater, the Spartans may have the ultimate advantage here for the younger Richardson. Starting guard Tyson Walker will be gone after next season, while AJ Hoggard does have another year. The team does have top-40 freshman guard Jeremy Fears so Richardson would have to play off-the-ball more in the first couple of years at Michigan State. Still, there’s going to be playing time available and a chance to play for one of the best HCs in the sport in Tom Izzo.
San Diego State Aztecs
The Aztecs only have starting guard Darrion Trammell for one more year, so there’s going to be a need for an impact ball-handler for the program. They have four-star guard commit Taj DeGourville so adding Richardson would give them the top class in the Mountain West. It’s an option where Richardson wouldn’t have to worry about playing time and he’d be a focal point on the roster not too long from now.
