2. Max Abmas – Texas

Heading to Texas and the power conference level for his fifth and final collegiate season, Abmas already made a name for himself the last four years at Oral Roberts. He led the Golden Eagles to the Sweet Sixteen back in 2021 and got them back in the Big Dance last season, averaging at least 21 points per game in each of his last three seasons. Abmas has actually scored 2561 career points already and is just under 39% from outside the arc in his career.

He’s a walking bucket who can score creatively and take over on offense, but how will his game transition into the Big 12? He’s a bit undersized and will now be playing regularly against power conference opposition, not mid-majors on a nightly basis. Obviously, these questions will be answered as the season goes along, but a player with the raw talent, experience, and history like Abmas doesn’t come along every offseason.

1. Hunter Dickinson – Kansas

After spending the last three seasons as a major part of the equation at Michigan, Dickinson landed at Kansas, giving one of the nation’s Blue Bloods a huge boost. Dickinson is a very talented center who’s put up great numbers the last three seasons with the Wolverines. An All-American as a freshman, he just averaged 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in another productive season in the Big Ten, even growing as a shooter.

He’s a versatile and strong frontcourt presence who will play an important role for Bill Self’s program this upcoming season. Dickinson has worked on his outside game and we know he’s going to cause damage in the interior. Quite simply, he was perhaps the most coveted name on this past offseason’s Transfer Portal and he landed in Lawrence, giving a reloaded Kansas roster a huge strength in the paint that can do a lot of stuff for the Jayhawks.
