12. Kentucky Wildcats

Last year, Kentucky was around the very top of the best NCAA Basketball frontcourts, thanks to having former National Player of the Year center, Oscar Tshiebwe. He’s off to the pros, along with Chris Livingston and Jacob Toppin. Meanwhile, both Daimion Collins and Lance Ware transferred elsewhere for bigger roles.

One big man who ultimately decided to return is Ugonna Onyenso, a 6’11 impact defender inside. 5-star freshman big man Aaron Bradshaw is a skilled offensive weapon, while Zvonimir Ivisic is another skilled big man from Croatia, who currently hasn’t been cleared by the NCAA to play.

The two forwards on the roster who can play are five-star combo forward Justin Edwards, along with Tre Mitchell. The transfer from West Virginia is a double-digit scorer and floor spacer who can play at the five-spot. Considering the injuries to both Onyenso and Bradshaw, that’s likely what’s going to happen for the first month of the season.

From a raw talent standpoint, this is a top-15 frontcourt, even with the unknown potential of the freshmen and Onyenso. Yet due to the injuries and the eligibility concerns, I may have to hedge my bets a bit and knock Kentucky’s group down a level compared to some others if they don’t come back.
