Key reserves

Guard Cam’Ron Fletcher, Senior

The former Kentucky transfer is back after missing a majority of last season with a right knee injury. Prior to that, he was one of the best scorers and rebounders on the ‘Noles’ roster and is more than adept at being a sixth man for this team while pushing for major minutes. He averaged 10.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game before the early end to his third season with Florida State.

Forward Jaylan Gainey, Senior

Jaylan Gainey was going to be an exciting addition to Florida State for the 2022-23 season, coming over from Brown after two Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year nods. Then, he suffered a right knee injury in practice a month before the season, sidelining him for the entire year. A healthy return for Gainey should immediately improve the team’s defense; he may be the X-factor for this squad.

Guard Josh Nickelberry, Senior

Gainey was a transfer from last year, but Josh Nickelberry came over this offseason from La Salle after starting his career at Louisville. Nickelberry was the Atlantic 10 Sixth Man of the Year last season and should be a key cog off the bench. He averaged 10.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game for the Explorers while leading the team with a 40.1 percent accuracy rate from three.

Center Baba Miller, Sophomore

The Spanish big man got off to a slow start after being sidelined for the first half of his freshman season. He ultimately averaged 4.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. The potential is there, as evidenced by his solid play as Spain ran undefeated through the FIBA U-19 World Championship in Hungary this summer. He should carry some of that momentum to his sophomore season.
