NCAA Basketball: Kentucky, Arkansas fall in latest top 25 power ranking
By Joey Loose
6. Arizona (4-0)
Arizona has established themselves as a national power these last few seasons since Tommy Lloyd has taken over the program and they certainly are continuing that trend this season. Already picked as the favorites in the Pac-12, they proved the point with that road win at Duke last week, though the Wildcats know that every game matters; not just the big ones.
The Wildcats didn’t suffer any kind of letdown, winning 97-59 over Southern back on Monday night. Six different Wildcats were double-digit scorers, led by a 17-point, 6-rebound effort from Keshad Johnson. Four days later, Arizona kept their great start going with a 100-68 win against Belmont in another fantastic offensive performance. Both Caleb Love and Motiejus Krivas scored 20 points while the Wildcats completely dominated the boards.
There’s nothing wrong with four early wins, especially when one of those is at one of the nation’s toughest road environments. The Wildcats, albeit against weak competition, have played elite offense and very solid defense and look the part of a national contender again this year. Looking ahead, they’ll play a few games as part of the Acrisure Classic, including a matchup with Michigan State on Thanksgiving.
