Alabama Suspends Tony Mitchell Indefinitely

facebooktwitterreddit

The Alabama Crimson Tide saw their season start off quite well, but ran into a four game losing streak a few weeks ago before winning their last two games over Arkansas and Ole Miss.

So everything is good now, right? Not so fast.

Head coach Anthony Grant announced today that forward Tony Mitchell has been suspended indefinitely due to conduct detrimental to the team.

Mitchell is averaging 13 points and seven boards for the Crimson Tide, which makes this a pretty big loss for a team that seemed to be turning things around.

While news like this is never good when it involves a player of Mitchell’s caliber, there is a bright spot in all of this. Alabama’s next two games are on the road at Auburn and LSU, and while they are still road games in the SEC, those two teams aren’t exactly Kentucky and Florida.

It’ll still be a challenge for Grant’s team to go in and win both. But the schedule could be a whole lot worse.

Things aren’t particularly easy after that though, so Crimson Tide fans better hope that Mitchell gets it together and Grant allows him back on the team for the stretch run of the season.
