The hatred of the state of Ohio will continue for Michigan, as the 4th seeded Wolverines were bounced in the Round of 64 by the Ohio Bobcats, 65-60.

The MAC Champs used Michigan’s poison against them, by taking high percentage jumpers and nailing them. Ohio shot over 51% from the floor and guard D.J. Cooper was 7-for-11 and scored 21 to lead the way to an upset win in Nashville.

All season long, Michigan has lived and died with the three, and tonight was no different. For a team that was dominant from the behind the arc all season, the Wolverines shot just 30% from distance. Freshman point guard Trey Burke was just 2-of-9 from the three-point line, as he attempted nine threes for just the third time all year.

For Ohio, the ability to get defensive rebounds in the paint was crucial. Despite being out-rebounded as a team by just two, the Bobcats controlled the defensive glass and Ivo Baltic’s seven boards led all players.

Up next for Ohio is the winner of the South Florida vs. Temple game.
