Recruiting: Jabari Parker Sets Decision Date, Will Choose Michigan State or Duke

The long-awaited resolution of the Jabari Parker sweepstakes will give one lucky school the best Christmas present of all.

The Simeon Academy (IL) star will announce his college decision on Thursday, December 20 at 3 p.m., multiple news outlets are reporting. Michigan State, Duke, Brigham Young and Stanford all remain in play—Florida is no longer under consideration—but Parker will ultimately choose between the Spartans and Blue Devils.

Parker has taken official visits to Michigan State, Duke, Florida and most recently BYU. He has also visited Stanford unofficially.

Widely considered the top prospect in the 2013 class until Andrew Wiggins reclassified and bumped him off his perch, Parker has given few hints of which way he’s leaning. His recruitment has been quite furtive, unlike that of any other recruit of his stature in recent memory. Parker’s camp has maintained a tight lid on media access and downplayed his college derby as much as possible.

A devout Mormon, Parker will forgo embarking on a mission next year—which he’s eligible to do now that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints lowered the age requirement to 18—and enroll in college instead.
