The MEAC tournament begins on March 10 and will be hosted by the city of Norfolk, Virginia, Thirteen teams from Mid-Atlantic states will gather together to try and earn the conference’s automatic NCAA Tournament bid. The MEAC has produced some of the toughest small-conference teams to play in the NCAA Tournament, including the fifteen seed Norfolk State team which upset two seed Missouri in 2012.

This year, the overwhelming favorite to win the tournament is the conference’s regular season champions, the North Carolina Central Eagles.  At 25-5, the Eagles have one of the best records in the country and they wield the best record in their conference at 15-1.  They haven’t lost a game since January 11, winning seventeen straight games and even earning some votes in recent AP Polls.  They’ve been rolling through conference play and aren’t about to stop any time soon.
