Chris Obekpa now likely to return to St. John’s

Remember that report about Chris Obekpa being granted his release from the St. John’s Red Storm and being a new member of the transfer society? Well, yeah. That stuff was all true and whatnot, but it looks like things have taken a turn like an M. Night Shyamalan flick.

A new report has surfaced. In it,  Roger Rubin states that a coach that was (is?) in the running to land Obekpa said he believed that the shot-blocking wonder would be back with St. John’s.

Not long after Rubin’s article dropped, Chris Obekpa dropped a tweet that would lend credence to the report.

You can take that tweet any which way you want. For all we know, Obekpa was talking about crushing it at the cafeteria later in the day. However, it seems just a little too convenient to be anything other than Obekpa letting his followers know he would be back with the Johnnies.

With rumors surfacing that former Michigan big, Jon Horford, might transfer to the Red Storm, Steve Lavin can quickly regain a competent frontcourt.

It is also worth noting that in the report Rubin claimed PSU stud, D.J. Newbill, is in play for the Johnnies via transfer. According to other people in the know, this is news to them.
