Iowa State lands another transfer in Hallice Cooke

facebooktwitterreddit

It seems like the Iowa State Cyclones basketball program happens to be a place where every transfer in the nation wants to go. That is despite the fact that Fred Hoiberg is rumored as a top candidate for every open NBA gig. I mean, the proof is in the pudding. The pudding, being here, former Oregon State player Hallice Cooke.

Naturally, because this is life now, Hallice Cooke made his announcement via his Instagram.

That does happen to be one heck of a photoshop, though.

Last season Hallice Cooke averaged 8.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per outing for Oregon State.

This is the second transfer that Hoiberg has gotten to come to Iowa State this offseason. Couple that in with his two JuCo transfer commits, and it is business as usual in Ames.

Getting another player to transfer to play at Iowa State only highlights how much players want to play in Hoiberg’s system. Usually, at least when coaches are heavily rumored to be bouncing, it isn’t that easy to lure solid talent in.

Per the usual NCAA rules, Cooke will have to sit out his first year at the school, but will have three years of eligibility remaining after that. Will Hoiberg be there to see him through graduation, though, is the bigger question that is still lingering around.

Hooray, offseason basketball rumors!
