Penn State Basketball is throwing a charity basketball game vs. the University of Delaware before the 2019-2020 season kicks off.

Penn State Basketball is hosting the “Hoops 4 Disaster” relief game versus the University of Delaware. The game will take place on October 27th, at noon, at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The funds raised by this basketball exhibition will go towards helping the school of Louisiana Tech and Ruston, Louisiana to rebuild the city and campus from a tragic tornado. The funds will also be given out to students and faculty as possible aid for those in need. General admission tickets are $10, while student tickets are $5. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on September 24th. This is the third consecutive season Penn State has participated in an exhibition for natural disaster relief.

Penn State hasn’t played Delaware since 1980, but the Nittany Lions are 10-0 in the all-time series. Delaware hails from the Colonial Athletic Association, which is one of the most respected one-bid mid-major leagues in the nation. Delaware had an overall record of 17-16 last season. The Blue Hens lost Eric Carter to graduation, and star freshman Ithiel Horton transferred to the University of Pittsburgh. However, they return Ryan Allen and Kevin Anderson, their 1st and 4th leading scorers, respectively. Allen had a breakout season last year as a Sophomore, scoring over 16 points per game.

Lamar Stevens returns as the big-name player for Penn State. Stevens was voted preseason first-team All-Big Ten. Mike Watkins, Myles Dread, and Jamari Wheeler round out the returning players to watch for Penn State. This should be a decent game, but I see Penn State winning by 18.

This will be a nice preseason test for Penn State, but let’s remember why they’re playing this game. Come out to the Bryce Jordan Center to support Penn State and those affected by the tornado in Louisiana.
