Best Coaching Hire This Off-Season in College Basketball?
By Blake Lovell
Yesterday, news broke that Billy Kennedy was leaving Murray State for Big 12 basketball and the Texas A&M Aggies. Or in other words, the coaching carousel continues in college basketball.
Which leads us to our newest poll question here on Busting Brackets:
What has been the best coaching hire in college hoops this off-season?
Now obviously, there is no right answer to this question. It’s purely based on speculation at this point, as none of these coaches have any wins or losses on their records at their new school yet. So we’ve just gotta go by the coach and the situation.
And with that said, there’s no formula that factors into the equation in terms of defining what we mean by “best” coaching hire. It’s simply your opinion on who you think will have great success in his new role.
My choice at this moment would probably be Mike Anderson at Arkansas.
I think he’s going to reignite the Razorback fanbase, and while I don’t see them winning a national championship like they did back in 1994 under Nolan Richardson, Anderson is still going to bring back that uptempo style that Richardson utilized. The SEC is a tough conference, but the SEC West isn’t particularly loaded right now. So with the way that he recruits, Anderson could completely turn this program around in a short amount of time.
Well there’s my pick. Now it’s your turn.
We won’t list every single coaching hire that has taken place this off-season, but if there is one that’s not listed that you feel is a better choice, then just choose “Other” and let us know who it is in the comments section below.
Here’s the choices:
