Oklahoma Regents to Meet on Monday to Discuss Future in Big 12

facebooktwitterreddit

Now that Texas A&M has decided to pursue official membership in the SEC, Oklahoma has become the new Big 12 school that is contemplating their conference future.

A few days ago, there was a story saying that Oklahoma was very intrigued by joining the Pac 12. And now it sounds like the board of regents is going to try and make a decision on that possibility very soon.

The news dropped a little while ago that the regents will discuss their future at a Monday meeting, although it doesn’t seem clear if anything will be made official then.

Either way, it’s clear that they are intent on figuring it out one way or the other. Needless to say, that’s pretty big news.

If Oklahoma decides to pursue membership in the Pac 12, then who knows what will happen.

Texas will have decisions to make. Other schools in the Big 12 will have decisions to make. The SEC will probably have decisions to make concerning expanding their conference even more. A move by Oklahoma may get the ball rolling on all this “super conference” talk.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens. But again, this is a HUGE decision that could impact all the major conferences in college athletics.

What do you think? Should Oklahoma stay in the Big 12 or go to the Pac 12?
