Pac 12 Trying to Bring in Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State

facebooktwitterreddit

We knew earlier this morning that more rumors would spread throughout the day concerning the conference reshuffling, and sure enough, it has.

The Austin-American Statesmen is reporting that the Pac 12 is trying to finalize a deal that would bring four Big 12 schools to the conference: Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.

One very interesting tidbit included in the story:

"Nothing has been accepted or approved, yet, but the deal would allow the Longhorns to keep the Longhorn Network."

That’s huge right there, since that’s obviously going to be crucial to whatever Texas decides to do. But it sounds like their future destination could very well be the Pac 12.

And it makes sense that the other three schools would join them. We already thought Oklahoma was heading there, so nothing new on that front.

Texas Tech and Oklahoma State were probably going to join them in whatever they decided to do, so it makes sense that they are involved.

If these four teams go, the Big 12 is done. I hate to say that, but it seems like that will be the case. With Texas A&M involved with the SEC, and Baylor and Iowa State rumored to be willing to head to the Big East, I just don’t see how the Big 12 would be able to continue.

More on this as it develops. The super conference era has arrived!
